Expert Gardening Tips for Beginners

Using a 20-Inch Flower Pot

The Modesto 20 Inch Flower Pot brings together easy style and charm to your garden. This portable patio planter is made from durable acrylic with a textured grooved interior, which comes in a variety of beautiful hues. The sides feature a slanted design so that it actually measures exactly 20 inches wide at the top and 16.5 inches wide at the bottom. You’ll notice the deep corners on this planter are actually shallow shelves that will hold and store many of the tiny flowers your family loves so much. The bottom is smooth and has an unglazed rim to make drainage easier.

The planter is dishwasher and microwave safe as well. It can be used in any kitchen, even one that doesn’t have a back yard. Because of its portability, there’s no reason to ever have to compromise on how you view your yard.

If this is the first time you’re planting a planter of this size in your backyard, you might be wondering what this kind of plant could do for your home. Simply put, it’s a wonderful accent piece. Many people choose container gardening to brighten up their spaces or to increase the value in their homes. Flower pots, even the larger varieties, add color and vibrancy to any yard. When used in conjunction with other landscape features such as fountains or large trees, container gardening can add that final touch of class and distinction. Just imagine what your yard would look like with blooming plants and a few carefully chosen flower pots sitting amongst them.

These flower pots are perfect for container gardens. But if you have a larger yard to work with, you might want to consider a differently sized container. A patio table or outdoor breakfast bar are great places to plant a single flower bed. The trick is working the container into the shape of the object that you want to feature. In other words, don’t make it look like a flat surface; make it look like a patio table or a four poster bed, and then plant those flowers in whatever arrangement pleases you.

When purchasing a pot, it pays to ask about the type of potting medium. The most common type of potting medium is ceramic, although you can also find fiberglass and clay pots that work just as well. Flower pots are normally rated on the “dry weight” or weight of the container itself, but you shouldn’t keep the lid closed when you’re not using it.

Most flower pots that are used for container gardens have a lip on the bottom of the container. This lip keeps the soil from draining out of the flower pot and down the drain, and it allows the water to remain in the container so your plants will stay healthy. The flower pots you select should be able to fit snugly into the hole in the bottom of the container, but you should leave enough headroom so that you can turn the flower pots without knocking them over.

When selecting a flowerpot, you should pay close attention to the size of the container. Choose one that is large enough to hold the number of flower you plan to grow, but small enough that you can easily move it around if necessary. Make sure you buy a flowerpot that is sturdy and has a thick lid that locks in moisture. You don’t want your flowers to dry out and start to wilt. Your flowers need plenty of moisture to grow strong, and they need it now, while you are waiting for the weather to change and get better.

Keep in mind that most flowerpots should come with at least two holes on the bottom. These holes are used to guide water to the inside of the pot, as well as to allow air to circulate, keeping the plants comfortable and happy. You will find that the pots that come with just one hole or that have no holes at all are typically narrow and lack any sort of support, which makes them poor choices for growing plants. If you are planning to plant more than just one type of flower, such as tulips or roses, you may want to consider using a larger pot that has two or more holes. The two-hole flowerpots usually have dividers on each side to help separate the plants, while the three-hole flower pots are made with slats on each side to help keep the roots from spreading out too far.
