Best Plants For Self Watering Pots

There are some best plants for container gardening that I will discuss in this article. This list might not be the best plants for self watering plants and vice versa for other container gardening needs. With that said, there is a lot that can be said for many plants and most plants will do well with at least a little care. If you are new to container gardening, these plants might be perfect for your first plantings and you can always add to the list as you grow.

*apes or herbs such asmary, thyme, oregano, and sage. These plants are easy to grow from seed and some can even be stored for future use. They also make beautiful container gardens. Keep an eye out for insects, weeds, and fungal disease. These pests can take down even the healthiest container garden.

* perennials such as clematis, Dutchman’s root, dungeness, hollyhock, or Myrtle. These plants work well in all kinds of weather conditions and are best planted in the spring. These plants will produce leaves and flowers in early spring and stay green through most of summer. Perennial plants like these are great for container gardeners and can be used year-round for any kind of gardening need.

* container annuals such as clematis, dungeness, Myrtle, or spring bulbs. These are also some of the best plants for self watering plants and some can even be stored for later use. They require very little attention during the growing season and will produce lush, colorful flowers throughout the fall. Annuals can be used as starter plants for container gardens as well as for traditional vegetable gardens. Try using container annuals for containers if you want to get started with your gardening in the ground rather than seeds.

* shrubs. Shrubs, such as hibiscus, honeysuckle, rhododendron, and tulips, are best plants for self watering plants throughout the year. These plants have long roots and can go almost anywhere. Because they are short lived, you don’t have to worry about them dying when it gets cold or the temperatures start to drop. All you need to do is water them a couple of times during the winter season and they should survive until the first frosts come around.

* shrubs. Some of the best plants for self watering plants are evergreens such as hibiscus, rhododendron, and azalea. Some gardeners also like to plant an azalea tree, which can be a spectacular blooming addition to your garden. These types of trees usually have short twigs, needles, and leaves that are perfect for covering the soil for an extended period of time.

* vines. Vines are best plants for self watering plants because of their ability to grow up into the air and soak up water. Try and plant vines next to other plants in your garden, but make sure that they get enough sun to help them grow properly. You may also want to try growing vines in pots instead of just on the soil. Pots provide more protection for the vines and allow them to grow up and away from your other plants.

So, which are the best plants for self watering plants? It really all depends on what you are looking to accomplish with your garden. If you just want to keep some plants around to provide color in the spring and summer, there are a few plants that are perfect for this purpose. In the end, however, you will probably want to choose plants that will be durable throughout the year and ones that will get the most use out of the water that you provide. You can look through a plant guide or a magazine to get ideas about what the best plants for self watering plants are.
