Big Plants for Balcony

One of the best ways to provide beauty and elegance to your home is by growing some big plants for balcony. These plants can be placed in the balcony, patio or deck. You can choose among a wide array of plants including Junipers, Sumacs, Horseradish, Pearl Trees, Ginkgo Biloba, Hostas and a lot more. The list of plants is endless. But there are some important things that you should consider before you start to grow big plants for balcony. Below are some of the tips that can guide you on how to grow some big plants for balcony.

The first thing that you should do is to plan where you will be putting your big plants for balcony. If you want them to grow naturally, it is better to place them away from windows because direct sunlight could possibly harm them. If you are going to place them on the balcony, the best place is to use pots.

The next tip is choosing what type of plants to grow. Do not choose plants that need a lot of maintenance and extra watering. There are a lot of plants out there that can grow easily and don’t need much water and you may consider those if you have an apartment with limited space. Other types of plants that can help you in apartment gardening are trees and flowers.

You can also combine plants when you are apartment gardening. For example, by placing flowering plants next to each other, you can create a lush green garden. This is useful especially during summer time. Flowers can make your apartment look beautiful especially at night. But of course, you can place flowering plants that don’t need much water and maintenance next to each other so you won’t be wasting your gardening time and money.

In addition to selecting plants, you also have to consider the climate of the area where you live. If the climate is warm during most part of the year, you will find most plants are able to thrive. However, if the climate is cold for most part of the year, you might consider using some plants that can tolerate cold weather better such as ferns. You can also mix your apartment gardening ideas with your personal preferences.

Some people opt for container plants when they are planning to have big plants for balcony. This is because these plants require less care and maintenance. You may consider using plastic plants in containers or hanging baskets to save money on buying expensive wooden pots. In addition to this, you don’t have to prune these plants since they do not grow that tall. Just make sure not to cut the branches too short or you’ll have to plant diseases.

Aside from these, you can also use your imagination when you are planning to have big plants for balcony. For example, you can use hanging baskets instead of traditional pots. You can place a few plants in one basket to give them more depth or you can place several small plants in one basket. The great thing about doing this is that you can adjust the height and length of the baskets based on the height of your plants.

One other idea that you can consider when having large plants for balcony is using gravel as a supporting material. With this type of setup, you can use a small level in the balcony instead of a flat surface. Plus, you can use the gravel in between the supporting plants so the plants will not have to support the weight of the gravel. As long as you are willing to do some pruning, it is a great idea for you to use large plants for balcony.
